about

hackweb started in Riccione in 2010 as a personal site, with a panel to shut down a home server, a chat, and an anonymous mailer. It was 2012 and all of that seemed like a good idea.

Today it is a blog. It is about broken things and what breaking them taught us: old software brought back to life, configuration mistakes that produce no error message, security explained from real code rather than from slides.

The look is still the 2012 one. That is not an affectation: it is the archive.

How it works

PHP with no framework, SQLite instead of a database server, nginx in front. Posts are PHP files versioned in git under content/posts/: no admin panel, no table to keep in sync, one source of truth.

Contact

Registrations are closed and there is no contact form: a badly built contact form is exactly the kind of thing we write about here.
